Our Little Dancer

Our Cadence has been enjoying taking dance despite covid.  She's had times where she has had to have classes over zoom and some interesting, creative year end dance recitals.  I've been pleased with how her dance studio has handled the difficulties that come with covid restrictions.  She's been having a great time.

Cadence started a Primary Ballet Class in 2019.  Classes were in person until March 2020 when covid hit and classes moved to zoom.  

That dance year finished in June 2020.  Due to covid they recorded each classes final numbers outside behind the studio and gave each parent a CD to watch.  They had a backdrop for pictures and gave each dancer a rose.

In September 2020 she started a Jazz/Ballet Class.  Classes moved from in studio to online several times throughout the year.  Cadence preferred to be in person of course but she was a good sport about it and still had fun.  

Crazy Hair Day

Since we still couldn't have indoor recitals the year end recital was held outside at the High River Drive In Theatre.  The dancers were onstage with the image being displayed on the movie big screen.  The parents all parked and either watched from inside our vehicles or on lawn chairs beside our vehicles.  It was a great idea!  The only downside was it was about the hottest day of the year.  We sat outside in the shade for as long as we could.  After Cadence danced we had a picnic lunch from the back of the truck and then turned on the air conditioning and sat in the truck until all the dancers had finished.

It's been fun to watch her dance and improve.  Hope she has another great year of dance.

Birthday De-ja Vu

Covid has been rough on everyone.  The isolation, wearing masks, difficulty finding staples at the grocery store, the price of EVERYTHING, job security worries, vaccine debates, missing loved ones, not being able to travel etc.  

Another downside to the pandemic has been a sense of de-ja vu, of one year feeling like the next.  I'm not just making this up.  I have photographic proof.

Even though the last few birthdays have been nothing special, I sure hope the birthday boy knows how special he is to us.  He is such an amazing man.  A great husband and father.  We are sure grateful to have you in our lives.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

I'm Back!!

I'm back!!  I am sure my vast readership will be thrilled.  I'm not sure how to catch up but I guess I'll just start and catch up best I can.  So since I last blogged a lot has changed, but then a lot has stayed the same - mostly covid.  

One big change is we now have another driver in the house.  

In January 2021 Ashton bought himself  a 1991 Mercury Topaz.

He has named it Tiberius.

Ashton has spent hours cleaning, fixing and tinkering with his car.  He has had a few problems he has had to repair and I've been amazed how he can research what is wrong, buy replacement parts (well usually his dad and I buy the parts) and then be able to fix it and get his car back on the road.  He has certainly enjoyed being able to drive his brother and himself to school rather than having to take the bus.

It has been awesome to have another driver, and Ashton is always willing to run errands for me, including going for groceries which is fantastic.  Safe Driving Ashton!
