This summer is just flying by. But we've been having lots of fun and making lots of memories as a family. One of the boys favorite activities this summer has been camping as a family in Radium. A few months ago my sister in law Charmaine let us all know that they would be going camping in August - so we decided this year we would join them. We brought Grandma with us, filled our truck to the rafters and headed on our way.
We arrived at our campsite and got all set up. Our site was really private with people only on one side of us with lots of trees in between and a beautiful river running by. I found the sound of the water really soothing and it blocked out any other noises.
Our only glitch was our mattress went flat the first night. About 2 a.m. we moved the boys over to our mattress - they didn't seem to mind. The next day we ran into Invermere and bought a new mattress!
We spent most days at the Invermere Beach. It was supposed to be raining all week, but it turned out to be beautiful weather. We had rain our first night and it was sunny the rest of the time.
On the last day we bought the boys boats. They were on sale for $10.00, but the oars cost $20.00 so we didn't buy the oars but they paddled with their shovels which seemed to work great.
Jason even got in on the action - towing the kids around.
Food at camp was awesome. Dave and Char invited us a couple of nights, and one night we made ribs, corn on the cob and baked potatoes. The ribs were fabulous - my man can cook meat!! I didn't even mind too much that we were tenting. The campground we stayed at has flush toilets and showers so it makes it tolerable for me.
On one day we stayed around camp in the morning and made ham and cheese tarts for lunch, then met everyone at the Hot Springs. Afterwards we all went out for dinner.
Evenings were spent around the campfire, roasting marshmallows, eating smores and drinking hot chocolate. We had a great time with Dave and Char's family, the kids all got along so well and it was nice to have Grandma with us.
Then it was time to pack up. We spent another afternoon at the beach and then headed to Cranbrook for the night.
The next day Jason wanted to show the boys a couple of his favorite spots he used to play when he was a kid living in Cranbrook. They had lots of fun trying out the zip line - they didn't want to get off it.
We took our time driving to Fort Macleod as we were staying over night there as Blake's baptism was going to be in Fort Macleod the next day. So we stopped at the World's Largest Truck.
Then we stopped at the Interpretive Centre at Frank's Slide. I had never stopped before and it was very interesting but sad! We watched a couple of their movies and looked at all the exhibits.
Then we stopped at Lundbreck Falls.
We had such a great time on our holiday. There was no fighting and I loved spending so much time with my family.
Looks like so much fun! I am so happy Ashton and Blake got to spend some quality time together without Calum butting in! The cousins need that sometimes! One year we will all have to go together, though, I am really looking forward to November when we all go to Edmonton!
