Summer Road Trip

Jason had this past week off of work so we decided to take a little vacation to B.C.  We headed out Tuesday morning.  We stopped on the way to visit Jason's mom.  We had a weiner roast in the backyard and went for an icecream.  The kids were happy to visit their grandma.  We continued on and arrived in Cranbrook late afternoon.

Jason's aunt and uncle were kind enough to put us up.  We had dinner with them and then the boys played outside while I put Cadence to bed.

The next morning aunt made us a delicious breakfast before we headed out for the day.

First we went to a park that was a favorites of Jason's when he was little.  The boys went on the zipline.  Unfortunately the rope had a lot of slack, but they still had fun.

Then we went to Moyie lake.  It was a beautiful afternoon, windy but bright and sunny.  The boys had a great time playing in the sand and water, Cadence however was not a fan of the sand.  She cried everytime we tried to put her down.  We either had a hold her or put her on a towel.  Hopefully she will get used to it.

Not sleeping, just relaxing.

Bowen had a "little accident" on the beach!
Jason's aunt and uncle live in such a pretty spot.  We enjoyed relaxing in the backyard while the kids played and explored.

The next morning we visited Jason's other aunt and uncle who live in Cranbrook, then we headed to Banff.

With all the traveling Cadence got a little addicted to the DVD player.  Every time we put her back in the truck she'd point at the little TV and want to watch something.  Despicable Me was her favorite.

When we got to Banff we decided to go on the Gondola to the top of Sulphur mountain.  Ashton is afraid of heights and did not enjoy the experience very much.  He was okay on the ride down.

After the gondola ride we went to the Hot Springs.  It was a great way to finish our holiday.  So relaxing!  A late drive home and everyone was sure ready to hit their own beds.  I love this little family of mine - so blessed!!

Slide the City

Slide the City came to Calgary yesterday.  We had bought tickets for the boys back in February and they were very excited.  You could either buy a single ride, three rides or an all day pass - we got the boys 3 rides each.  We were instructed to go and pick up their tickets and tubes Friday night at Sunridge Mall.  I had no idea we would need to wait in a line up for an hour to get them.  For the number of people in line it actually went pretty quick.

So Saturday morning we got up and headed downtown.  They had picked a street near Kensington.

When we arrived they weren't quite ready to go yet, the truck transporting the slide was late.  Cadence and I found a shady spot to sit and Jason headed up the hill with the boys to get them in line.

Hundreds of people in line.

Since they started a bit late the boys waited about an hour in line for their first ride.  The next two were only about a half hour from finishing one run to finishing the next.  Pretty good considering the turn out.

The boys had a great time, I'm so glad we did it.  Cadence was a really good girl waiting for her brothers.

If they come back next year I'm sure we'll do it again - I'm sure their dad will join them next time too. Great summer fun!!
