Birthday Month

August is my birthday month - yes, I celebrate for the entire month.  My actual birthday was on August 3rd.  My birthday weekend started with attending my cousins wedding in Lethbridge.

Waiting for the wedding to start - it was a little bit sunny!

It was a lovely wedding and reception.

After the wedding our boys went home with Grandma.  We had booked a room at the Lethbridge Lodge for a couple of nights and we took Cadence with us.  It was such a relaxing break.  We slept in, swam in the pool, soaked in the hot tub, went shopping, etc, and my favorite part went for a delicious lobster dinner to celebrate.

My boys (with the help of their dad of course) got me a new set of pots and pans, and Jason bought me a beautiful ring and necklace in my birthstone.

When we went to pick up the boys from Grandma's house all of my siblings were home with their families and we were able to all have dinner together.  It was great to see everyone.

It was a perfect birthday!

4 Months Old

It's been 4 months already since little Cadence was born.  Time is just flying by, but at the same time I can hardly remember when she wasn't part of our family.  We are enjoying her so much.  The boys love her to pieces and she already has her dad wrapped around her little finger.  She is a great traveler and has been so good about us dragging her around all summer.  She is so sweet and brings so much joy to our home.

Age - 4 months on August 7th
Weight - 16 lbs 7 oz (Aug 14th)
In the 90th percentile for weight and height
Sleeps between 10 - 12 hours a night
Wears 3 to 6 month clothes (many of her 3 month clothes are getting too small)
Gives lots of smiles
Makes her family work hard for giggles (the biggest giggles have been for her brothers)
Rolls from her back to tummy, but then gets mad that she's on her tummy
Goes back and forth from nursing to bottle easily
Likes sitting up in her bumbo chair
Can hold her teething ring and small toys

Slow down just a little bit baby girl - it's going by so quick!

"Surprise" Holiday

Jason has had this past week off work.  Tuesday after taking the boys to a matinee we were discussing what we should do with dad's week off.  It was decided on Wednesday we would head up to Red Deer to go to a tube river run, and then the rest of the week we would go to Calaway, the Southland Leisure Centre, and maybe the zoo.  Later Tuesday night Jason was checking out some prices online and found a pretty good deal at the West Edmonton Mall.  We decided to head up to Edmonton after our visit to Red Deer and surprise the boys.

After they headed to bed, I did laundry and got us packed up to go.  Jason hauled everything out to the truck to hide our luggage.  We got up early Wednesday morning, packed a picnic lunch and headed to Red Deer.  The boys had a hoot.  It was a fun little river run into a lagoon and you can rent tubes.

We stopped for lunch - played some more and then headed to Edmonton.  It was so funny the boys never noticed we were going the wrong way.  Finally as we were pulling into the mall - Ashton says "Why are we at the West Edmonton Mall?"  Then when they found out we were staying at the Fantasyland Hotel they were really excited.

We spent the whole next day at the World Waterpark.  We spent lots of time in the wave pool, sliding, and Cadence even went swimming a few times in the kiddie pool and hot tub.  I'm not sure how much she enjoyed it, but she tolerated it.

Then we hit the food court for some supper.

The next day was just as busy.  We had bought a package at the hotel for passes for the waterpark, sea life caverns, sea lion show, mini golf and breakfast.

We did a bit of  back to school shopping, had some supper and headed home around 7:00 pm.  It was a great impromptu holiday and we had some great family time.
