The Sunburns Will Fade - But the Memories Won't

This weekend we got to bust out our brand spankin' new passports and took a little family trip to Big Sky Waterslide in Columbia Falls, Montana.  The boys were so excited to be going to the United States and to use their new passports.  They were a bit disappointed they didn't get a stamp in their book - apparently you have to fly to get those.

My side of the family (with the exception of Amber who was unable to get off work - we missed you!!) went to the waterslides for the day.  The kids had a hoot together.  Up and down the slides, playing with the tubes in the kiddie pool, the climbing wall, bumper cars, soaking in the hot tub.  The weather was beautiful and we had a great time as a family.

Stopped for lunch.

Some were very upset to stop for lunch - when all they wanted to do was slide!

After a quick supper at A & W we headed home.  The drive over Logan's Pass was beautiful.  We were able to see lots of animals and the boys loved it.

Sorry we were moving!

We're a little sunburned ...

and we didn't get home until 1:00 a.m.  But for the memories made it was totally worth it!!

Bowen's Ride

Bowen has never been that interested in riding his bike.  He'd ride once in awhile, but for not very long.  The last little while he has been complaining that his legs ache when he rides.  We thought it was bugging him because his bike was too small for him.  Ashton recently got a new bike so we thought Bowen had better perfect riding a two-wheeler before we bought him a new bike as well - so he's been practicing on Ashton's old bike for a couple of days.

So last night we purchased a new bike for Bowen.  It is quite a bit bigger and he's a bit nervous but seems to be taking to it quickly.

Now I can't get him off it!!

Kids Eat Free

We thought we'd take advantage of "kids eat free" at ABC Restaurant tonight.  As an added perk they still have a guy come in who makes balloon creations for all the kids.  Along with yummy supper we also got "Spongebob", and "Pink Panther" tonight.

New Bike

Ashton is loving his new bike!!

It's a 7-speed Mongoose Ruckus, but I think his favorite feature is the kick stand!!

Look Who's Two!!

Saturday the boys and I headed to Lethbridge to celebrate my sister's little boy's 2nd birthday.  Jason wasn't able to come with us as he is still trying to make up hours at work from being closed during the flood.

JONAS - THE SWEET BIRTHDAY BOY

Before we ate Jonas kept sneaking over to the table to steal cheetos - he's so cute!!

Rachel put on an awesome spread.

After lunch the kids had lots of fun playing in the sprinklers.  It turned out to be a beautiful sunny day!

Then it was time for cake.  The theme of the party was "balls".

Time for presents!  Jonas seemed to like everything he got and he got quite the haul.

Happy Birthday Jonas!  Thanks for inviting us to celebrate with you, we had a great time!!

Squirrels, Skunks, and Gophers, Oh My!

So I mentioned on a blog post a few days ago that we had caught and relocated a skunk who had taken up residence in our backyard.  Well it turns out that it was just a baby.  The next night I noticed a big skunk on the back deck as well as another little one in the side yard.  Good grief!  I guess we're not quite done trapping and relocating skunks.  I'm a little nervous about Jason trapping the big one - I hope it doesn't give him any trouble.

In addition to our skunk troubles we now seem to have a problem with gophers.  I've seen at least one and it has taken a liking to digging up my flower pots each night.

I thought moving from the farm to the city I wouldn't have these kinds of problems.  It has definitely hampered my ability to enjoy my backyard.  Even when I go out to water in the morning I find myself flinching and jumping at every little sound.  Jason wants to buy a pellet gun to rid us of the gopher problem.  I'm not sure what we should do - any suggestions?

Home and Native Land

Today of course is Canada Day!  It is a tradition in our ward to hold a Canada Day Breakfast.  The primary was having a parade again this year so the boys had spent the last couple of days getting their floats ready.  Ashton was perhaps a bit too ambitious and he and Jason were up until 11:30 p.m. getting his entry ready.  Ashton went to bed and Jason stayed up until 2:00 a.m. finishing up.  A few last minute touches were needed this morning.

The breakfast was very yummy - pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausages.  It felt very strange to not be in charge of the activities for the kids.  The boys had a great time.  They got their faces painted by the YW.

Having fun with their friend Ashley!

The kids were all excited for the parade.   Due to the size of the floats they had made the boys decided to just walk it rather than try and ride their bikes.

It was a fun morning!  Happy Canada Day!!
