Cousin Jonas' 1st Birthday

Saturday we went on a little road trip to Lethbridge for our little nephew Jonas' 1st birthday party.

We rented the new Muppet movie for the boys to watch on the way.  Bowen spent alot of the trip doing this ...

He loves working in his school book.  He's going to have it done in no time.

We had a great time at the birthday party.  Liam was quick to give us a fashion show of all his superhero costumes.

Even Uncle Jared and Calum got in on the action.

We had great food and the cousins had lots of fun playing in the backyard.

Little Jonas wanted in on the fun!

Then it was time to open presents and birthday cake.

Rachel made the cutest "monkey" cupcakes!

Before we headed for home we had to try out Uncle Jared's new 3D TV!!  Don't get any ideas Jason!

Thanks for the fun birthday party Jonas - we love you!!

It's Only July 6th!!!

A couple weeks into our summer holidays and the boys have been busy.  I took them to the dollar store the other day to pick out a couple of crafts to make.

Ashton chose a felt picture of Spiderman to colour ...

Bowen chose some stencils with crayons and a little painting set ...

They've played with playdoh ...

With their toys and with each other ...

One afternoon Bowen labelled all the doors in the house (not sure why!) ...

They've played outside, we've gone to the park.  They've played in their bedrooms, in the playroom, in the family room.  They've watched TV, watched a movie, played on the Wii, played on the DS, played on the computer.  Last night I bought them each a school book to work in so their minds don't turn to mush.  I'm already starting to run out of ideas.  IT IS ONLY JULY 6th!!  What do you do to keep your kids busy in the summer?

I'm sure some of you have been wondering what has happened to my Friday Weigh In.  I haven't forgot about it.  It went on the back burner for a bit, but I'm refocusing and will be back.  I originally had a goal to lose 25 pounds before my birthday.  I'm going to have to revise that.  My birthday is less than a month away so as from today my goal is to lose 10 pounds before then.  If it is more great but I don't want to sabotage myself by having too lofty a goal.

I've started tracking my eating again and plan to exercise 4 times this week.  I'll report back next Friday on my progress.  Any Seinfeld fans will remember George's "Summer of George", well I plan on focusing on a few things this summer and make it a "Summer of Lalainia".  Wish me luck!

Summer Annuals - Finally!!

This past Saturday I finally had a chance to get in my backyard to get some work done.  We had either been too busy, or it has been too rainy to do it.  I had bought some annuals quite awhile ago so that was first to get done.

Window box at the front of the house.
Lower deck by fire pit.
Planters outside kitchen door.
Planter by barbecue.
Hanging pots on gazebo.  New windchime a piano student gave me!

Putting the boys to work!
It was good to get a start on the yard.  Now to get out there to do lots of weeding and trimming of trees and other plants.  We also need to get the boys pool set up.  The big job this year will be staining the decks.  Always lots to do!!

Oh Canada!

With July 1st falling on a Sunday this year our ward's annual pancake breakfast was held on Monday, July 2nd.  The primary is always in charge of activities for the kids and instead of games this year we decided to have a big parade and ask the kids to decorate their bikes, scooters, wagons, themselves etc.

My boys were excited about decorating their bikes and Bowen decided to make his bike look like a motorcycle and Ashton wanted his to look like the Millenium Falcon.

So Sunday night in the middle of the family room the boys and Jason started working on their creations.

Jason was up til past midnight working on them.  He has so much fun doing these kinds of things for his boys.

Finishing details were finished Monday morning before the breakfast.

The pancake breakfast was really yummy.  Pancakes, scrambled eggs and bacon.  Always a favorite a fire truck came for the kids to check out.

How Bowen posed for the picture cracked me up!
This was more what I had in mind!

Then we got the kids assembled for the parade.

Trophies and treats were given to the 10 best participants and then treats handed out to everyone.  It was a fun morning.

After helping clean up we decided to take the boys to Calaway for the afternoon.  Bowen was so brave and tried several new rides.  It is hard for him to go out of his comfort zone and try something new.

Looking a bit nervous!

Having lots of fun!!

Bowen informed me after getting off this ride "I won't be doing that again!"

We had a great and busy day.  It was fun spending time together.  The boys fell right to sleep, they were pretty tired.  It was maybe a bit to much sun for this veeerrry white family however.

Fun With Dane

Our first couple of days the boys were off school we were lucky enough to be babysitting our nephew Dane.  The first day Ashton had an appointment at his orthodontist which is right next to Ikea, so after his appointment we headed over to Ikea for breakfast.

Spent some time at the park.

Hanging out at home.

Not only playing cars with Uncle, but ON Uncle!

Looking forward to a lot more summer fun!!
